Hula Daddy 100% Ice Kona Coffee

September 15, 2008

Nothing is more refreshing on a hot summer day than a 100% Kona ice coffee. Ice tea is nice but iced coffee is special. However, just like ice tea there is good ice coffee and bad  ice coffee.

When coffee is hot, it is more difficult to distinguish good coffee from bad coffee;  however when it is cold, it is easy. In fact, a good way to compare coffees is to drink them at room temperature.

Bad ice coffee is bitter, stale, and/or weak. Good ice coffee is full bodied, robust and refreshing.

Here are some simple rules for making great ice coffee.

1.  Use Hula Daddy 100% Kona Coffee

Most market coffee is a blend of good coffee and cheap filler coffees, you will taste the filler coffee in an
ice coffee

2.   Use freshly made coffee

Coffee does not age well. Oxygen eats up the flavor of coffee. If you grind coffee in the morning, by evening the coffee will have lost most of its flavor.  Coffee picks up flavors from anything around it.  Coffee (ground or brewed) stored in the refrigerator tastes like the inside of a refrigerator.

3. Use Kona Coffee Ice Cubes

When you have coffee left over, pour it while it is still fresh into an ice tray and freeze it. Then put the
cubes into plastic freezer bag.

4. Brew a fresh pot of Hula Daddy Kona Coffee

Add sugar and cream if you must.

5. Pour over the Kona Coffee ice cubes

(Do not pour hot coffee into an ordinary glass it may break). Another alternative is to pour the coffee into a closed container and shake the hot coffee with the coffee ice cubes. (A metal cocktail shaker is perfect)

6. Pour into a tall glass and enjoy
